Edmonton rental market report

CMHC released its semi-annual rental market report today. Here are some highlights:

  • The vacancy rate in Edmonton decreased to 4.2% in October compared to 4.5% in October 2009
  • The average monthly rent for a 2 bedroom apartment in Edmonton was unchanged from a year earlier at $1015
  • The lowest vacancy rates were outside of the city in Sherwood Park (1%) and Leduc (1.8%), while the highest vacancy rate was in Fort Saskatchewan (10%) and North central Edmonton (7.2%)
  • The largest year over year decrease in vacancy rate was in North East Edmonton
